How does our deposit system work?

When you come to visit our facility you will quickly learn that our birds are all hand raised. The process to raise baby birds in often lengthy and fluid. Every bird does not wean at the same time. We love giving people the opportunity to get to know their new pets at the earliest of ages. We utilize non refundable deposits to allow people to select their new pets. This prevents us from being able to sell the bird to a third party during the term of contract, it further signals our company that it’s time to find another bird to raise for someone else to enjoy.

This system has helped us balance the amount of birds we raise at a time. It’s been a wonderful way for so many clients to get to connect with their pets before they were ready to come home and to ensure that they would not miss out on unique opportunities. It’s important to note that deposits are non transferable in an effort to ensure fairness to the animal(s) that awaits a client. Keep in mind again, that a clients deposit prevents an animal from being homed during the term of contract. We believe it’s our duty to always consider the animals rights as well in this process. When someone says “I want this one” we take that commitment seriously here.

The system has been in place for the entire existence of our company and it was modeled after a few other pet company’s that I used to shop at prior to owning a company of my own. The practice of securing a pet with non refundable deposits is very normal for breeders to utilize because it insures that buyers are serious enough to make a commitment.

It’s important to note that at Exotic Pet Birds Inc. we believe strongly in fairness. That said, we strictly enforce our non refundable deposit system because we’ve had to hold others accountable prior and it is simply not fair to do for one that you have not allowed for others prior. Another important point to note about our non refundable deposit system is that every day our birds are cared for to the highest degree. Every day every bird is fed watered and cared for. The consumables and labor have a great deal of cost involved to the company which is invested in birds as they are in the process of awaiting to go home.

The purpose of today’s article is to remind everyone that we as a small business have to balance our commitments. We always want to have a transparency with our client base. We have to secure birds to bring in ourselves with non refundable deposits and are held to the same standard. We only sell pets to adult parties so we also feel strongly that as we have worked hard to educate everyone who selects a bird from us we expect at bare minimum that the adults we decide to home a bird to will take their commitments seriously.

We hope to never have to enforce this term in our contract but we want to ensure it’s always understood by all ahead of time. That’s why we have added it in contracts you sign, in discharge documents you sign, made signage in store and now today have written a full article to help everyone understand the process that much better.
