The good old American Budgie. Easily one of the most frequently seen birds in the pet trade. This the bird we all call, the parakeet. Don’t be confused, the American budgies we see in big box pet stores are not the same thing. They are mass produced and not individually raised as our birds are. We take the same amount of time to raise these birds as we do with our largest most expensive birds. All birds here get the same level of love and attention. Our American budgies are so calm and loving that we allow anyone to sit in our visitation center to get to know them. We often note to visitors that if you want to quickly see the difference between our American Budgies and any other pet store; ask the pet store staff member to play with the bird before taking it home. Most large big box store staff have been trained to not allow you to touch your new prospective pet because it will likely fly into the rafters never to return again. We don’t call this a pet, we refer to that as a wild animal. We seriously don’t like poking fun of other stores but we do absolutely think our American budgies are special and we have had several people come back for a second after experiencing the difference!
