Education is so important to us here. We study Aviculture every day in what we do, articles we read and people who we network with (we have some amazing colleagues around the country who know their stuff!) The senior leaders of our company, myself included took the steps to take AFA Courses and even become Certified Avian Specialists through a course written by renowned Dr. Susan Clubb.
We absolutely love sharing our knowledge built and we love learning from our community. In recent years I’ve been interviewed for two books, one about cockatiels where I was published a quote in. The other about cockatoos. I’ve been published in trade magazines as well. I have proudly raised over 5000 birds here at Exotic Pet Birds Inc along with a fantastic crew. I’ve headed a grooming program that literally grooms thousands of birds a year and have spoken and learned from some amazing Veterinarians about grooming techniques. These vets taught me multiple life saving techniques including how to properly hydrate a bird with subcutaneous fluids in extreme cases.

In recent years as Exotic Veterinarians are becoming harder and harder to find, the few out there require more time to get our pets in for evaluation. I’m grateful to have had the experience over the years to have triaged many birds for clients until they could be seen.
The basics of education are not for sale here. They are available daily as we want to make sure our community grows naturally in its ability to care for their pets. We proudly offer free behavioral training for life here for all birds that come from us, which many many many of our clients have utilized. This education which comes free with all our birds includes basics in bird care, learning about your birds signals of what they are trying to tell you through body language and so much more. We are so proud to be the only bird store in New York State that offers you this free level of education. While others try to gather you in groups to sell you an education, Exotic Pet Birds Inc. gives that education aways free daily. We want to support you in your Avicultural journey and that’s why we proudly call ourselves your partners in Aviculture! There are a few Aviculturists in our community who have been Aviculturists longer than myself, but few who can say they have accomplished all I’ve accomplished in my career in Aviculture. In my years as an Aviculturist I’ve studied with some amazing mentors. I’ve learned the old world way of thinking and the new. In the new way of thinking I’ve worked with literally scientists in both medicine and laboratory science with respect to Aviculture. I’ve even made friends with some well noted social media sensation Aviculturists. Most recently I’ve been on conference calls with scientists in Taiwan who run an aviculture DNA tech business. I am so excited to be here for you for years to come, as it’s my goal to pass along what I’ve learned to you all along the way!
